SASCA ‘to run 3 teams’ in Sheffield league this season

With a number of new players having joined the club over the last year, we now have more children and young people ready to

Therefore, we can announce that we’re ready to run three teams in the Sheffield adult evening league next season.

1st team – Mainly comprised of our adult coaches. We field the strongest team we can, giving our top juniors the occasional opportunity to play against the top teams in the city. Our first team has performed well recently, winning the online Cup during the Covid-19 pandemic and also finishing top of Division 1 of the Summer League.

2nd team – A combination of adults and our top junior players. This team is intended to be competitive in a lower division (expected to be the 3rd division – TBC) of the Sheffield adult evening league.

3rd team – Usually an all-junior team, but with the possibility of fielding one adult player or beginner (often for transport reasons for away matches). It’s nice to win some matches, of course, but the main aim is to offer the experience of competitive chess in the bottom division of the Sheffield league.
